This is superb Astrid. Lovely DOF
Picturit: Thanks Aussie, it was a little damp that day.
Astrid.
I worked out how to get an English version of the site - we've got science places like this too, but none with a tall ship moored nearby! What a view!
Picturit: The English version of the site is very poor, I have don some googling....this is the ship, it it the New Amsterdam, part of the museum, it is a magnofiscent view to be able to see it from the top down

Love the view.
Picturit: Thank you very much.
Astrid.
Very unique shot. Love the detail and the DOF.
Picturit: It is a great ship, it is a replica and used as part of a museum.
Astrid.
Beautiful shot. If the cars weren't there it could be any year in the past few centuries.
Picturit: I know, it was too much work to get them out
Astrid.
lol, I love where you put your watermark.
Regarding the photo, very attractive shot. The colors, layers and depth, and clarity are all great.
Picturit:
Thank you for your kind words. Astrid.
A beautifully composed shot. Love the foreground with all the lines and then you notice the outstanding architecture of the buildings in the background. Great job!
Picturit: Thank you John, I love to be in Amsterdam, there is so much to capture, so much history.
Astrid.
Wow great photo Astrid
Picturit: Thank you so much for your kind words.
Astrid.
Were you on the adjacent crows nest Astrid? ;-) richard
Picturit: Sure, I was in command of that other pirate ship, afer a heavy battle we took over....there were lots of gold and jewelry on board...
Astrid.
Great shot Astrid and the view is superb
I imagine you were all rigged up in your pirate outfit cutlass and all, defending your ship. Is this where you got the idea for your project?
Picturit: I just told Richard Trim, that I was in command of the other ship, we took over, we won the battle of course...you know me, I fight to the end...
It will be as good as this I hope, I keep you posted.. Astrid.
Tracy would love it up there
Picturit: We 3 musketeers would love it, we are the fear of the seas!!!
Thanks Bill. Astrid.
I wouldn't like to be up there in a Force 10 gale! Interesting to be able to get so close. The main building in the link looks like a very interesting place.
Ingrid
Picturit: That is the St Nicholaas church, it is on the opposite of Central Station, it was fabulous to be there...I would step down with force 10....
Astrid.
I see it has been renamed Astrid's nest - curious to know where you were when you took the photo - swinging from the rigging with Johnny Depp?
Great aerial perspective (use of the air density to give depth) ;o)
Picturit: Sure, I was swinging with Johnny...we were on the ship next to this, we were about to take over, that one was mine...you saw it right, my name is on it, so it's mine all mine...
The damp weather made the fading background, NO photoshop, I have not even a clue how to do that....yet... Astrid.
The busy haven atmosphere is well captured! Love the ship-details in the foreground! Love the beautiful St. Nikolaus-church in the background! Some month ago I had the view from the Prins-Hendrik-kade along the buildings (Do you post the impressive Amsterdamse-school-Scheepvaarthuis later, too?) on the postmodern Nemo building!
Picturit: Philine, I know the building you are talking about, no I am afraid I don't have that one....maybe next time I will capture it for you....I will be often in Amsterdam...yes with my camera.
Astrid.
Astrid.
I can see where you have planted your name, Astrid 2008. I do like the discreet way you do this and much prefer it to just putting your name on the image.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Astrid.
What a beautiful and unique view! I like the depth of the image. Well done Astrid.
Picturit: Thank you Richard, the damp weather made that the background was kind of faded..
Astrid.
My son and ex-husband have been in Holland since Thursday. I think they were going to France yesterday. They would have been here. If there are boats about they would be there.
A very nice view for those of us not lucky enough to be there.
Picturit: They have been very lucky with the weather, I am sure they have been here too, it is a nice place to visit.
Thank you for your kind words. Astrid.
Good composition
I have been a bad visitor last week, due to pneumonia... sorry... hope this week will be better and I come by more often...
Picturit: Chantal, thank you for visiting, I am sorry to hear you have been very ill, I do hope you are fully recovered now.
Astrid.
That looks like a very wobbly perch in high seas!
Picturit: This had to be...many never came back from their long travels...
Astrid.
I haven't got a head for heights Astrid but I still like your excellent picture. Love where you have put your name! Brian.
Picturit:
Astrid.
Looks as if you climbed the mast Astrid. I hope you had a good breakfast before you did!
Picturit: I always make sure I have good breakfast before climbing the mast, after I had this view I gave the signal for taking over the ship, we did very succesfully,
Astrid.
Nice watermark job Astrid
A lot of details to look at in this one
Picturit: Thanks Magnus, I love to 'hide' my watermark, ships like this a very nice subjects to capture.
Astrid.
Sorry about not really looking at the "nest". My eye is really keen on looking at the amazing building in the background. Marvelous building.
Picturit: http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sint-Nicolaaskerk_%28Amsterdam%29 There are some great pictures in this link, it is a real nice building, thanks for your kind words again.
Astrid.
Now that is a very tidy crow, Astrid.
They are quite messy birds in Thailand! [grin]
Picturit: I know, I think they cleaned before they went to school
Astrid.
Isn't it wonderful that we could stand on top of that NEMO "ship" and get this bird's eye view of the crow's nest! How appropriate. And of course, you know why I love that church so much. My special Nicholas would be so proud! One day I will show my take on this and will reference your wonderful point of view. I just love our photo hunts together, mijn vriend.
Picturit: My photo hunts with you are always so very special, we complete each other, what I don't see, you do and the other way around, on our next hunt, appeltaart met slagroom...I love the Nicholas church, I have always done so, but you have a special Nicholas in your heart....
So when we see this one when we are in front of Centraal Station in Amsterdam...we I am looking forward to our next hunt.... Astrid.
lol, i was searching for a nest, but i understand the name now
Picturit:
Astrid.
This is majestic, I love love love it. Such different structures in the same scene.
Picturit: Ruth I am so sorry about this LATE reply....this is Amsterdam in full, so much to see, never boring, that is why I love it so much....my dad was born in Amsterdam so maybe that is why I have that love for the city, I know, Ginnie and Donica consider this their second home...
Astrid.
What a view. Awesome photo Astrid. Perfect capture on this.
Picturit: Thank you Tom, I love to 'hang around harbours' and the view on Amsterdam is one I always like.
