.....one red helmet.....
comments (35)
And that red helmet gives him all the power in the world, I bet! The colors and clarity are so vibrant, Astrid. I can tell you run a good tourist attraction with these rafts. Way to go! I would definitely join that team and have a heyday. So would Tracy, of course.
Picturit: Thanks Ginnie, it was so fun to watch them, it was a trainings day of a firemens-brigade from somewhere in The Netherlands, this picture was taken on Texel....I was running with them into the water, yes, we Musketeers, we would probably have hit England with this raft...(it is only 4 days rafting)
Astrid.
They seem to be very over-dressed if what they are doing is intended to be fun, Astrid.
And...what is that yellow-helmet [third from left] up to with his baby-size paddle. [grin] Great picture, though...love all that roiling water, and all those big boys with their toys.
Picturit: Ray, this was a firemen brigade, they were trying to get past the waves, but the force of the waves and the current, kept them coming back on the beach....it was a so fun to watch...they were exhausted after a while...I think that was their purpose.....they were really big boys
Astrid
lol @ Ray... apparently having decent gear means you can't have fun! I really like how vibrant and action filled this photo is.
Picturit: Thank you for your kind words, you are so right and these waters are dangerous, the current is killing sometimes, in the tourist season many life-guards are watching out over the sea.
Astrid.
Nice composition and a promise of action. Your description to ray indicates that they lack technique. The Astrid 2008 will not clear the waves if they don't work together.
A lot of this happens around our coast and many lifesaver teams are involved. And normally they are big boys as you describe them I think the red helmet can be a danger sign for any craft following them
Picturit: 'the Astrid 2008' never made it to nowehere....but I had fun watching these big boys
Astrid.
Yes Musketeers this would be great fun and can you imagine the roaring laughter never mind the rolling waves!!!!
We would be rolling so much our tummy's would be hurting This is a great action shot Astrid, I would have loved to have seen this going on but you have captured the atmosphere very well.
Picturit: Musketeer, you/we would have loved it, we would just throw three out, with our charmes of course
Ginnie will do the stearing.... Astrid.
Goede photograf Astrid 2008. I see you managed to daub you mark on the rear of the vessel. This is an interesting action shot and i cannot understand why the boat does not sink.
de vaste briefschrijfster, chad
Picturit: We wondered about that too, it kept floating, no matter how much water came in, thank you for your kind words, have a great day.
Astrid.
Perhaps if the guy in the red helmet had let go of the anchor they might have got somewhere
Nice vibrant colour picture
Picturit: LOL, yes, he hold on very tight....thank you for your kind words.
Astrid.
lol at Bill's comment, great action shot Astrid with stunning color
Picturit: Thanks Tim, I was lucky with the nice sunny weather and not too much wind...
It still is very sunny today too Astrid.
Great action shot Astrid. The colours and the lighting are stunning. They seem to be a bit disorganized though!
Picturit: Only after 10 tries they kind of got the hang of it...hilarious to see...
Astrid.
Great colours Which Musketeer would wear the red Hat?
Picturit: LOL...
Astrid.
But then: he is the rudder man...
Nice capture!
Picturit: He was Wim, he made sure evrything was going well.....I think at least he gave it a try...
Astrid.
HMS Astrid 2008 sets forth.
A good action shot with great colours. Very obliging of them to hang around for you ;o)
Picturit: LOL, thanks Mike, you know I always find some place for 'the signature'.
We had so much fun watching them, also when they ran into the waves, one time, some tripped over and they were 'flat' on the sand, it was a pity I was too far away for some descent shots of that.... Astrid.
Talk about an image being "tack" sharp! EXCELLENT!!!!
Picturit: Martie, thank you so much for your compliment, most appriciated, I think I was lucky, the waves kind of 'stopped' the raft.
Astrid.
Astrid.
Astrid - this is a great shot with colours full of impact!
Picturit: Thank you Steve, it was so much fun to see this so close.
Astrid.
From the thumbnail I thought it was snow I was looking at! Very fun action shot!
Picturit: It was cold, but not that cold...it was fun to watch these big boys
Astrid.
good composition here
Picturit: Thanks Chantal,
Astrid.
Like the clarity and impact. Looks a bit chilly(cold) too.
Picturit: It was cold, it was in March so the temperature of the water was about 8dgr Celcius. 46 Fahrenheit. But I am sure they were very warm.....
Astrid.
I can feel that wave and how exhilerating it must be. Great job. (Love your signature.)
Picturit:
Astrid.
Fearlessly braving the surf to save lives...great capture!
Picturit: Thanks Alexandra, it was a fire-brigade on practise weekend...thanks for dropping in.
Astrid.
Excellent action shot. Like the way you froze the action here. Love the vibrant colors in this image. Great job composing this one.
Picturit: John, I am very pleased woth your words, they mean a lot to me, I was lucky that the waves kind of 'stopped' them.
Astrid.
What a shot! I can almost feel the energy.
I'm intrigued by how you fit your name into your pictures, is there a special way you do it? I enjoy hunting for it each time, a bit like the "Where's Wally" idea
Picturit: For me it is always fun to find the right spot for my name...I will tell you in a private mail my 'secret' thank you for your ever kind words.
Astrid.
Looks like (cold) fun!
Picturit: It was cold fun, the water was 47 F....it was in March on Texel.
Astrid.
What a great shot!!! Love that there's only one red helmet among the crew. It singles him out as the 'man-in-charge.'
Thanks for sharing...
Picturit: It sure was the man in charge....he was yelling and shouting, but I wondered if they ever heard him..
Astrid.
''Michael row the boat ashore'' comes to mind. richard
Picturit: LOL, you are so right here, it never crossed my mind, thanks, it would have been a great tittle!!
Astrid.
Very crisp and clear shot Astrid, but wave could be bigger
Picturit: I know, we did not have that big waves....they are never that big..only with West Storms......but than it is dangerous, and I will NOT take pictures, all that flying sand is not that good for my camera!!!
Astrid.
Very nioce one!!!
Picturit: Thanks Frank, it was fun to watch.
Astrid.
Glorious colours Astrid, another shot I wouldn't have noticed with the man in the red helmet. Good saturated colours and really wet looking surf. Well seen. Brian.
Picturit: Thank you so much for your kind words, I was looking at these men and noticed that red helmet at once...it was a great sight.
Astrid.
Great action shot, Astrid. That one red helmet really makes the shot for me! I bet this was a fun one to take.
Ingrid
Picturit: Thanks Ingrid, I knew you would go for the RED one...it was so much fun to watch and to hear them yell....after the weekend I will be there again, now for two weeks, I do hope to get some nice pictures again...
Astrid.
Cool action photo!
I think it would make the photo stronger when you cut some away at the top of the photo. Is the men with the red helmed the leader?
Picturit: I tried to crop from the top. it did not work (for me) the RED Helmet was the leader of the pack.
Thanks Robbie as always. Astrid.
An apple in a sea of oranges, or have they run out of yellow helmets? The foamy white waves look pretty! good shot.
Picturit: I guess you are right...no more red helmets..
Thank you for your kind words and visiting. Astrid.
Red must be the boss. Did you have fainting spells so that the Big Boys would rescue you?
Picturit:
Astrid.
there's always one guy going against the grain ... very cool, dramatic shot ... hope you didn't get your camera wet!
Wow ! Very well done ! And lol for the name of the boat ...
Picturit: Yep, I am famous everywhere...oops I have to stay modest
Thanks Zeb, Astrid.
This is a very beautiful action shot!
The framing is perfect!
Picturit: Thank you Rémi, this was fun to watch, thank you for your kind words.
